JEDCO Assists Critical Needs Business After Hurricane Isaac

In the days following Hurricane Isaac, the Jefferson Parish Economic Development Commission (JEDCO) made it a priority to assist businesses negatively impacted by the storm. Gilscot Guidroz International was one such business. The company’s Marrero facility was severely damaged during Hurricane Isaac’s path through Louisiana, so much that they needed a temporary place out of which to run their operations.

JEDCO offered Gilscot Guidroz International three offices in the organization’s Business Innovation Center (BIC). The company has temporarily relocated to the BIC in order to continue normal operations until their facility is repaired.

“Our experience with JEDCO has been outstanding,” says President Keith Guidroz. “During this difficult time, JEDCO has gone out of their way to assist us so we could continue our business without interruption. With their expeditious help, we are now running our business as usual.”

“I am glad that JEDCO had the resources available to assist Gilscot Guidroz International after the storm,” says JEDCO Executive Director Lucien Gunter. “We had the capacity to accommodate the company at the Business Innovation Center, and I could think of no better way to utilize those offices than to support a Jefferson Parish company in need.”

The Business Innovation Center is JEDCO’s state-of-the-art facility for start-up companies. It houses ten fully furnished offices with access to wireless Internet, phone services, Smartboard technology, and video conferencing. The BIC’s primary purpose is to serve the tenants partaking in JEDCO’s business incubator program.

The program is designed to help entrepreneurs grow their companies in a in a collaborative environment. Not only do tenants receive office space at low rental rates, but they also have access to market experts and capital providers to help transform their ideas into viable business ventures.

“This is a hidden jewel for anyone who has goals of starting their own business,” says Guidroz. “Never would a person or company have a better opportunity to succeed, especially with the complete line of services offered by JEDCO.”

The Business Innovation Center still has private offices for rent. Call JEDCO at (504) 875-3908 or visit the website at www.jedco.org for more information.
