Charlet Business Recognition Award

Jefferson Parish is Expecting Heavy Rain from Tropical Depression #5

The latest report from the Nation Hurricane Center as of 0800 hours today had classified the broad area of low pressure in the southeast Gulf of Mexico as Tropical Depression #5.  Tropical Storm warnings have been issued for Southeast Louisiana, including Jefferson Parish with the possibility of 3 to 5 inches of rain over the next two days, some areas may experience up to 8 inches.  Strongest winds are expected to be 40 to 45 miles per hour and storm surges of 1 to 3 feet above normal.

Jefferson Parish’s GEOCENT Expands Headquarters

August 06, 2010

This week, Jefferson Parish issued the first incentive payment of $216,000 to GEOCENT, retaining 90 jobs and creating an additional nine new jobs.  These retained positions have an average salary of $73,000, while the new positions have an average salary of $65,000.

Upcoming Town Hall Meetings

U.S Secretary of the Navy, Ray Mabus, will be holding two Town Hall Meetings to gain input from the area citizens, (in regards to the Gulf Oil Spill) to help him come up with a long-range recovery plan for the Gulf Coast.
