Area Colleges and Universities: Bridging the Workforce Shortage
To help connect employers with top-notch employees and retain the area's intellectual capital, the Association of New Orleans Career Services Offices (ANOCSO) and Greater New Orleans Inc. have partnered to host a College Recruiting Workshop on Thursday, March 29, 2007 at the Hilton Riverside Hotel.
While career fairs are traditionally presented to link job seekers with employers, this new initiative is designed to build stronger ties between local businesses and the career services offices of local colleges and universities.
This working session will kick off with a presentation designed to introduce human resource and other professionals to the basics of recruiting college students for internship and full-time employment. This presentation will be followed by an interactive session in which employers can meet career services representatives from participating colleges and universities to learn more about listing job openings and recruiting graduates from those institutions.
Colleges and universities participating in the reverse career fair include University of New Orleans, Tulane University, Tulane's Freeman School of Business, Loyola University, Holy Cross College, SUNO, Dillard University and Xavier University. With a total combined enrollment of more than 33,000, these institutions are poised to play a tremendous role in meeting the labor needs of New Orleans area employers.
