Residents and Businesses are asked to Report Structural Damage

03 September 2008

Jefferson Parish officials are requesting that residents and business owners report any structural property damage from Hurricane Gustav.

The Jefferson Parish Department of Citizens’ Affairs, 736-6000 or 736-6100, will receive calls from citizens and businesses in both unincorporated areas and the municipalities starting today, September 3, 2008 through Sunday, September, 7, 2008 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and starting Monday, September 8, 2008 the hours will be 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. until further notice.

This data will allow parish officials to gain an accurate count on the number of properties damaged. This is necessary to apply for federal assistance if it becomes available and to continue to build a data base on the areas susceptible to flooding so that the parish can plan future drainage projects.
