JEDCO Releases 2008 Annual Report
May 21, 2009
This 2008 Annual Report summarizes JEDCO activities during the past year. After reading it, I am sure you will agree that the past twelve months represent JEDCO at its best. The ribbon cutting for the Churchill Technology & Business Park, our accreditation by the International Economic Development Council, the record number of business retention calls, the processing of $9 million in loans and grants to help with regional recovery efforts and the partnering with GNO, Inc. to integrate GIS capabilities and real estate solutions into a new web site led the way to what I consider a record year of accomplishments for JEDCO.
But perhaps I am most proud of our push to improve the quality of life in Jefferson Parish. There is no question that this is the key to our future prosperity. The more we can improve the infrastructure and everyday amenities available to parish residents and businesses, the easier it will be to retain and attract the good jobs that are critical to our region.
Of course, JEDCO could not undertake a project of this size alone. The cooperation received from civic associations and business organizations has made this effort possible. I also want to personally thank Jefferson Parish Government, Jefferson Parish Public School System, Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office, and the Jefferson EDGE Investors. Their hard work is key to improving quality of life in Jefferson Parish. Thanks to all for their tremendous support.
Because of this cooperation and the accompanying financial commitment of these groups, we are developing an integrated marketing campaign to change quality of life perceptions among residents and businesses. This partnership highlights the proactive steps parish leaders are taking to ensure the support needed for the area to grow and prosper. Take a good look at Jefferson Parish, Opportunity Lives Here.
