November 09, 2009
The Jefferson Parish Emergency Operations Center is activated and will remain activated until the threat of Hurricane Ida has passed. Parish emergency response agencies are on full alert and monitoring the system.
All pump stations are manned and fully operational. Parish government offices and facilities are open for business today, including playgrounds, libraries, and the courts. Garbage will be collected on its normally scheduled routes today.
“We remain cautiously optimistic that the hurricane will not have a significant impact on Jefferson Parish as it continues to move northeast and gradually weakens, “said Deano Bonano, parish Homeland Security Director.
Water levels in lower Jefferson remain at or near normal.
Jefferson Parish Government does not issue sand bags. Citizens are reminded that it is against the law to drive down any roads that are flooded.
Please pay attention to the news for any new developments and for announcements on the status of school openings for tomorrow.
