Lapalco Bridge Closed

Currently, the Lapalco Bridge over the Harvey Canal is completely close to vehicular and marine traffic until further notice. Early this morning a barge carrying a crane struck the bridge. Inspection teams are on the site inspecting the entire span system to determine the exact extent of the damages and a method repairs. The bridge will remain closed until the inspections are completed. Notification of when the bridge will reopen will be sent to the media.
The cause of the accident is being investigated by the U. S. Coast Guard.
