Parish Evacuation Processes to End
Both the Medically Needy and Publicly Assisted Evacuation process will end at 8 a.m. on Sunday, August 31, 2008.
Jefferson Parish is encouraging the medically needy persons to call 349-5439 immediately for assistance. Those citizens who are still in need of assistance in evacuating should proceed to the nearest bus route or evacuation pick up points located at the Joseph S. Yenni Building in Harahan or the Alario Center in Westwego. The Jefferson Parish Mobility Impaired Transit System (MITS) will pick up elderly, handicapped, special needs persons and their pets in carriers and bring them to the Parish Processing Points. To arrange this pick-up, call 889-7156.
Trailer and Mobile Residents
Those citizens who live in travel trailers and mobile homes are strongly urge to evacuate or move to a more substantial structure until the threat of the hurricane is over.
