Dusk to Dawn Curfew - Mandatory Evacuation

Grand Isle, Jean Lafitte, Crown Point, Barataria and Surrounding Areas
Jefferson Parish has announced a mandatory evacuation for Grand Isle, Jean Lafitte, Crown Point, Barataria and areas outside of the levee protection system today, Saturday, August 30, 2008 at 1 p.m. There will be a dusk to dawn curfew for those residents who do not evacuate.
Jefferson Parish law enforcement agencies and the National Guard will be patrolling throughout the parish to protect the property of citizens while they are away. These agencies will have a strong presence and those who don’t evacuate may be questioned by law enforcement about their activities.
Residents are asked NOT to place any bulky waste or household garbage on the curb for collection until the threat of Hurricane Gustav is over. Household garbage and trash collection throughout Jefferson Parish will continue on Saturday, August 30, 2008 as scheduled. At the end of Saturday’s collection, all further collection is suspended until further notice depending on the track of Hurricane Gustav.
