Boomtown Casino New Orleans hotel expansion project announced

The Jefferson Parish Economic Development Commission (JEDCO) is pleased to announce a $20 million expansion to Boomtown Casino New Orleans. Pinnacle Entertainment, Inc. invested in plans to build a five-story hotel that will connect to the existing West Bank facility, which includes a casino, entertainment venue, and restaurants. The new hotel is expected to house 150 rooms, a fitness center, and meeting space right on the Harvey Canal.

This project is an economic win for Jefferson Parish. The hotel addition will create approximately 50 new permanent jobs, once completed, and more than 150 construction jobs. Construction is slated to begin within 60 days. It’s expected to take about 13 months to complete. The Lemoine Company, a Louisiana-based company, will be the general contractor on the project.

Pinnacle Entertainment’s presence in Jefferson Parish has played a large role in the economic growth of the region. Currently, Boomtown Casino employs 700 people from all over the area. In 2011, it drew 1.5 million visitors and it is on pace to do the same in 2012. Jefferson Parish officials believe the hotel project will even further promote tourism on the West Bank.

“Pinnacle is once again demonstrating they are good partners in Jefferson Parish, providing tangible benefits such as jobs, infrastructure improvements, and positive community outreach,” says Ricky Templet, Jefferson Parish District 1 Councilman. “In a time when many communities are struggling, we are pleased to work closely with the Boomtown management team on this exciting hotel project, bringing new jobs and continued economic development to the West Bank.”

“This is just a truly terrific project to help boost our economy,” says JEDCO Executive Director Lucien Gunter. “Not only is Pinnacle Entertainment creating new jobs within our community, but once this project is complete, they’ll be driving new traffic to the West Bank. I’m confident this fantastic addition to Boomtown Casino will provide strong economic benefits to Jefferson Parish.”

Pinnacle Entertainment owns and operates four casinos in Louisiana. Boomtown Casino opened in Harvey in 1994. The 30,000-square-foot casino houses more than 1,400 slot machines and 32 table games, a 350-seat nightclub entertainment venue, and over 4,600-square-feet of meeting and conference space.
