North American technology manufacturer celebrates grand opening of new headquarters in Gretna

The Jefferson Parish Economic Development Commission (JEDCO) joined local elected officials and business leaders to celebrate the grand opening of the new Computrols headquarters Friday. The local tech company moved into a 44,000 square-foot facility in Gretna to accommodate its continued expansion, investing $2 million into the project.  The new headquarters features a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility, office space, and a training center.

Computrols designs, manufactures, installs, and services intelligent systems that make buildings smart, secure, healthy, and energy efficient. Founded in Greater New Orleans in 1983, the company has become a leader in the building automation industry, supplying state-of-the-art electronic controls and automation systems to some of the most prestigious buildings and facilities in the world. Clients include the Statue of Liberty, the Superdome, Harrah’s Hotel and Casino, 375 Park Avenue in New York City, and the AOL Campus in Virginia, among others. Computrols has expanded since its inception, creating a need for more space to accommodate a growing team. The company currently employs 52 people and is in the process of hiring additional staff.

“After spending the last 15 years in a modest 7,500 square-foot facility, our ownership and employees are ecstatic to call this new building home,” said Computrols CEO Drew Mire. “Our new corporate headquarters provides our company with the space needed to expand as we scale our operations. We are proud to say that Computrols’ technology can be found in some of the most prominent buildings in the country and the world, but our strongest presence and commitment remains here in the Greater New Orleans area. We look forward to continuing to grow in this region and provide opportunities to professionals who want to be involved in a high growth, high tech industry.”

JEDCO played a supportive role in Computrols’ grand opening. The organization provided tax incentive guidance, connected the Computrols team with local resource organizations, and offered recruitment support. Computrols is also a member of JEDCO’s recently developed IT Roundtable Group for Jefferson Parish tech leaders.

“JEDCO is delighted to celebrate the grand opening of Computrols headquarters and manufacturing facility in Gretna,” said JEDCO President & CEO Jerry Bologna. “The technology cluster is a priority of the Jefferson EDGE, our economic development strategic plan for Jefferson Parish. Computrols’ expansion in Jefferson Parish is indicative of our success in elevating opportunities for technology companies. Additionally, we are excited about the company’s ongoing growth as they continue to bring quality, high-paying jobs to the West Bank of Jefferson Parish. We appreciate Computrols’ investment into our community and look forward to a long-term partnership.”

Computrols’ new headquarters and manufacturing facility is located at 2520 Belle Chasse Highway in Gretna.
