Prosper Jefferson: Workforce Development Panel

Workforce development is an important part of a community’s economic growth and success. We know business owners want to hire employees with the skill sets needed to advance the company. As the needs of our businesses change, our community adjusts the strategy to ensure we are training the next generation of workers to meet the demand. There are tools, initiatives, and educational programs available to bolster Jefferson Parish’s workforce, connect employers to skilled workers, and assist businesses with training opportunities.

At this month’s Prosper Jefferson seminar, hosted by JEDCO and the Jefferson Chamber, five experts will share information about those programs and initiatives to help businesses hire the right people for available positions. Join us to learn about the following:

  • LED FastStart – The nation’s number one workforce training program for businesses across the state
  • Louisiana Calling –  A state-wide campaign, resources, and strategic partnerships to connect Louisiana residents with pathways to career and financial success
  • A variety of research and tools available to businesses, students, career counselors, local and state agencies, and policy makers
  • Initiatives developed to connect employers to two-and-four year higher education institutions
  • NEPRIS – An online resource connecting employers to high school classrooms
  • Human capital development
  • Policy development
  • Dual enrollment, internships and apprenticeships at Delgado Community College
