Cherry Blow Dry Bar opens first Louisiana location in Jefferson Parish

(METAIRIE, La) — The Jefferson Parish Economic Development Commission (JEDCO) is pleased to welcome Cherry Blow Dry Bar to Jefferson Parish. The specialty salon, which provides a variety of express hair and makeup styling services, is the first Louisiana location for the New Jersey-based franchise. The company’s unique membership model allows customers to access blowouts, hair extensions and makeup services multiple times per month at affordable prices.

Cosmetologist Shalanta Jackson and her husband, Oliver Jackson IV, opened the Metairie location in early June, creating 12 new direct jobs.  The couple anticipates the hiring of an additional 10 employees within the next two months. The Jacksons plan to continue creating jobs and investment locally; they hope to open additional Cherry Blow Dry Bar locations across the region as the company grows.

“There is so much to offer here in Louisiana,” co-owner Oliver Jackson IV said. “We are glad to provide this service to the region while also creating jobs in our community.”

JEDCO played an important role in bringing Cherry Blow Dry Bar to Jefferson Parish. The economic development organization financed more than half of the project. The $225,000 loan, which came out of the JEDCO Growth Fund (JEDgrow), covered leasehold improvements and operating capital.

Cherry Blow Dry Bar is located at 210 Veterans Memorial Boulevard, Suite B, in Metairie. It is open Monday through Saturday from 7AM-9PM and Sundays from 9AM-5PM.
