JEDCO seeking Loan Specialist

Position Description

The Loan Specialist ensures all programs comply with federal, state, parish and Jefferson Parish Economic Development (JEDCO) guidelines while also monitoring the impact of various grant and economic development programs. The ideal candidate has excellent communication, negotiation, and customer service skills; is well organized, professional and enthusiastic; and has a sincere interest in being a part of an organization whose focus is on public service and the betterment of Jefferson Parish. Prospective applicants will have the chance to work alongside passionate and talented individuals to advance the overall economic viability of Jefferson Parish and the Greater New Orleans region.

Essential Functions:
Portfolio Management (approximately 65% of workday)

1. Perform loan administration and servicing tasks:

  • Book new loans or modifications
  • Send monthly payment statements
  • Collect and post loan payments
  • Manage delinquencies to mitigate losses
  • Collect annual borrower financial information
  • Track and report trigger events
  • Perform loan reviews at occurrences of trigger events
  • Manage borrower requests for collateral release, payment deferral or subordination

2. Record finance department economic development impact statistics
3. Monitor and interpret loan program changes; revise procedures and documentation accordingly
4. Manger proper disposal of records and documents according to established schedules
5. Maintain vendor contracts
6. Order all environmental reports and appraisals; review for program compliance

Loan Origination (approximately 35% of workday)
1.
Meet with prospective borrowers and discuss JEDCO’s loan programs
2. Establish COIs to obtain loan referrals
3. Prepare credit memos for new loan applications
4. Present new loan requests to Finance Committee or Board of Directors
5. Prepare commitments and discuss approval terms with applicants
6. Manage SBA loan process from submission to funding

Requirements:
1. BA/BS degree preferred.  In lieu of degree, 8+ years of relevant experience
2. 5+ years in banking or related field
3. Prior commercial loan administration or commercial lending experience
4. Preference given to candidates with SBA loan program experience
5. Excellent customer service orientation with good written and communication skills
6. Self-starter who works well within a team environment
7. Criminal background check and credit investigation required
