2012 Jefferson Parish Hurricane Prep Rally

The start of hurricane season is fast approaching and now is the time for all citizens to be ready.

The public is invited to attend the 2012 Jefferson Parish Hurricane Prep Rally on Friday, June 1, 2012, and then stay to cheer the New Orleans Zephyrs to a victory against the visiting Albuquerque Isotopes.
The Hurricane Prep Rally is scheduled to take place 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm at Zephyr Stadium, 6000 Airline Drive, in Metairie, Louisiana. Game time is 7:00 pm.

Zephyr Stadium will apply all regular charges for parking and game tickets.

The Prep Rally will offer citizens helpful information needed to prepare their families and homes for hurricane season and to see first-hand how their parish, municipalities, and first responders are ready to assist them.

Hurricane Prep Rally participants include Jefferson Parish departments, agencies, and first responders essential to the safety and protection of our citizens, their loved ones, and their homes in the event of a hurricane.

First responders will display their impressive high-water rescue and emergency response vehicles, live demonstrations will show the dangers of electrocution from downed power lines, the life-saving hands-on experience of how to escape a fire, an interactive scale-model of how our drainage system works and how the water runs its course.

Jefferson Parish Emergency Management personnel will offer citizens on-the-spot assistance in registering for the JPAlert Community Notification System and will assist business owners with information on the 2012 Re-Entry Placards essential for businesses returning to Jefferson Parish after evacuating.
